How Video Walls Can Enhance Your Collaboration Solutions

March 24, 2017

Collaboration through video conferencing is essential in today’s business environment. With the growth of technology, decision makers have more information available to them. Video wall solutions are a great way to manage visual information across an organization in a highly effective manner.Users can be in a control room, at a desktop or in the field as a mobile worker and can access the information at any time. With video wall solutions, employees can place diverse amounts of data, video or images on screens to create dynamic presentations that can target specific audiences or educationally enhance any area where display walls are exhibited. Some examples of digital signage verticals include retail outlets, department stores, entertainment and sports venues, banking, government, healthcare, transportation, hotels and schools. Video walls are an excellent solution to improve team collaboration and to focus attention on important, current issues with an extra-large display in a control room or meeting room application. The video wall market size is expected to grow from $4,118.03 million in 2013 to $17,956.26 million by 2020 at a CAGR of 23.44%. Some applications for VARS to focus on include:

  • Brand promotion
  • Charismatic advertising
  • Private or public information sharing
  • Live events
  • Digital menus
  • Posters
  • Corporate messaging in real time

Today, video walls are experiencing wider use in various industries, primarily due to technological changes. Enhancements in areas such as video-display resolution and large-format plasma and LCD displays improve the effectiveness and are expanding the variety of experiences offered on video walls. A key benefit of video walls is their ability to regularly refresh the display media, allowing content to be continuously updated and always attractive to audiences. In addition, video walls can be managed remotely, without the need for on-site personnel, making them more cost-effective. Finally, walls can be implemented both indoors and outdoors and in fixed and mobile configurations, improving the ability to collaborate with target audiences.

VARs who have clients with potential for video wall collaboration needs should discuss video walls, the fact that prices have come down and how they can integrate easily with desktops, remote desktops, smart phones, tablets, whiteboards, web browsers and live source broadcasts. Video walls can be mirrored allowing teams to collaborate simultaneously from different rooms or different locations. Video walls can even be used for video conferencing on a large scale. Team workers will find it much easier to manipulate and annotate information on large video walls than on desktop or mobile workspaces. With all of the integration capabilities of video walls, collaboration will be enhanced on a major scale.

VARs should get started by following these tips:

  • Find customers who have a strong need for team and remote collaboration, especially in the industries described previously.
  • Approach customers using older cube or rear-projection video walls or who are using video systems that are not high definition (HD).
  • Think about businesses that might benefit from outdoor video walls like zoos, sporting venues, art museums and music halls.
  • Speak with customers using video walls successfully today who would like to integrate their walls with walls at other locations or with UCC technology they already use.

Video wall technology has expanded immensely over the last two decades and the time is right for sales of these huge collaboration tools. Selling video walls means big profits and maintenance revenue for VARs, so become educated about them now and sell big!
