Make Cisco ESS Training a Top Priority. Here’s Why.

Specifically, ESS helps partners develop expertise in four areas:

Email

This focus area is designed for partners wanting to resell Cisco Email Security solutions, which offer high-availability protection against the constant and rapidly changing threats affecting email today.

Next-Generation Firewall

Approximately 70 percent of organizations have yet to make a significant investment in a NGFW (next-gen firewall), creating a $2.5 billion opportunity over the next 4–6 years. This focus area provides training to help partners sell one of the industry's most frequently deployed stateful inspection firewalls with comprehensive security services, including Web Security Essentials (WSE), Application Visibility and Control (AVC), Intrusion Prevention System (IPS) and virtual private networks (VPNs).

Web

Partners who want to develop web security practices should complete this focus area. It covers the Cisco Web Security solution and how it integrates with customer data centers, networks and branch offices.

Intrusion Prevention Systems (IPS)

This focus area provides training to help solution providers sell Cisco's next-generation IPS portfolio, which includes advanced threat protection. Cisco IPS integrates real-time contextual awareness and intelligent security automation with IPS solutions.

In addition to providing Cisco channel partners with a dedicated channel account specialist and access to expert Cisco resources for implementation, service desk support, migration and onboarding, Ingram Micro offers virtual training for the Cisco ESS certification program and exam fee reimbursements for account managers and field engineers who pass the courses. After completing an ESS focus area, a channel partner earns the distinguished title of Cisco Express Security Specialized Partner. The 63 partners who have completed one or more ESS trainings in 2016 have averaged $54,616 each in Cisco Security business so far for the year.

Ingram Micro is pleased to offer multiple virtual sessions for both the account manager (AM) and field engineer (FE) roles for the ESS NGFW specialization. The AM training is one full-day virtual session hosted by an Ingram Micro Cisco technology consultant. At the end of the training each attendee will have the opportunity to take and pass the AM exam. The next AM session is scheduled for Monday, Oct. 3.

The FE training is a two-day training hosted by the Ingram Micro Training (IMT) team. Attendees will be responsible for paying upfront to secure their seats and for the exam fee post-training, but will be reimbursed 100 percent of the cost of the class and exam voucher once they provide proof of passing. The approximate cost of the class is $1,400 and the exam voucher is $250. Upcoming FE training sessions are on Sept. 19 and 20; Sept. 26 and 27; Oct. 12 and 13; and Oct. 26 and 27.
