Preparing for federal buying season: your 8-point checklist
Federal buying season is rapidly approaching, and you know what that means. It’s a mad dash to the federal fiscal year-end close on September 30. The work days are long, your teams are scrambling to close every opportunity, and every moment matters.
 
Are you fully prepared? Have you done all you can to pave the way for a strong finish?  
 
If you’re not sure, it’s not too late to make a few last-minute efforts. Review our federal buying season checklist to be sure you’ve done all you can to set yourself up for success.
 
1. Get up to speed with current promotions and discounts. Connect with Ingram Micro’s market development team early in the season to learn about all current product and vendor-specific programs and promotions that could impact your federal deals.
 
2. Connect with your Ingram Micro sales team. Let them know about the projects you’re bidding on, and set expectations on quoting lead times, order status and tracking. 
 
3. Stay in touch with other Ingram Micro points of contact. Establish and maintain smooth lines of communication with the Ingram Micro market development team and the Partner Licensing Group (PLG), who can help you work out kinks with specific federal deals.
 
4. Prepare for your conversations. When having discussions with Ingram Micro sales and market development teams, be as prepared as you can be. Have information handy about your pending opportunities, the turnaround time, the opportunity close data and possible need for financing.
 
5. Get your financial ducks in a row. Before the buying season hits full force, connect with the Ingram Micro finance team to ensure all your account information and terms are current and accurate. Take a few minutes to ask about new financing options, seasonal credit lines or other ways you can go after larger government buying opportunities.
 
6. Review the Promark line card. If you haven’t reviewed Promark’s vendor list lately, it’s a smart use of your time. New vendors are added periodically, and you don’t want to miss out on potential opportunities simply because you didn’t know a vendor was added.
 
7. Watch for notification of extended hours. Every year, the Ingram Micro public sector team offers extended hours to help reseller partners close as many deals as they can. Watch for the announcement about extended hours—and alert your teams.   
 
8. Take advantage of Ingram Micro’s GSA desk. Don’t forget about this centralized resource that can answer your questions about Ingram Micro/Promark’s GSA Schedule 70. You can reach the team at GSAdesk@ingrammicro.com. And ask about their extended hours to support the year-end push.
