Provide enterprise-grade Wi-Fi to SMBs without making tradeoffs

March 28, 2017

To help partners better meet SMB customers’ Wi-Fi needs, Cisco introduced Mobility Express Solution, which is specifically designed to deliver enterprise class Wi-Fi for SMBs without making tradeoffs. Additionally, unlike many enterprise mobility offerings that require lengthy configurations, Cisco Mobility Express allows users to configure the solution over-the-air via the Cisco Wireless App in under 10 minutes.

The solution is designed for retail, education and hospitality businesses that need to meet the demand for faster mobility. It can easily be partitioned, too, allowing guests and employees to use the same network without compromising businesses’ security and authentication requirements.

Cisco has bundled Mobility Express into its 802.11ac Wave 2 access points, which forward data at gigabit speeds and beyond. Each 1830, 1850, 2800 and 3800 Cisco Aironet AP also includes advanced features such as multiuser MIMO (multiple input, multiple output) and a virtual controller that allows admins to set up wireless LANs containing up to 100 APs and supporting up to 500 client devices in a matter of minutes.

The virtual controller also allows admins to configure, update and manage the AP infrastructure without having to configure and manage each AP individually. In addition to free controller capabilities, users gain access to other enterprise-grade features, such as entry-level location-based services.

Cisco Connected Mobile Experiences (CMX) is a platform built on the Cisco Unified Access Infrastructure that complements Mobility Express and uses Wi-Fi to connect, detect and engage retail customers, for example, by using context aware intelligence to deliver personalized mobile services. Brick-and-mortar retailers could, for instance, use this platform to detect customers walking into their stores and deliver tailored messages to customers’ mobile devices. Additionally, based on a user’s location, the CMX can deliver messages such as informational updates, indoor maps, sales promotions or evacuation instructions. Over time, location data can be analyzed to provide retailers with insight into the shopping habits of new and repeat customers.

Additionally, Cisco Connected Mobile Experiences (CMX) Cloud can be seamlessly integrated to Mobility Express (thanks to Wireless Release 8.3) to enable SMBs to glean even greater functionality. For instance, with these integrated solutions, channel partners can quickly deploy an on-premise wireless network with a built-in virtual controller, along with a cloud-delivered guest-access captive portal to onboard customers and generate analytics for customer insights.

Join Ingram Micro for a wireless webinar “Cisco Wireless—Comparing On-Premise and Cloud-Based Options,” on May 18, June 28 or July 12. We'll compare Cisco's on-premise and cloud wireless access points and discuss how, with the help of Ingram Micro's professional services team, Cisco wireless solutions can provide feature rich wireless to every one of your customers.
