Cisco VIP 33: Earn higher margins on your Cisco sales
The Cisco Value Incentive Program (VIP) is Cisco’s longest-running channel incentive program. Billions of dollars in rebates have been claimed by partners over the past 17+ years, and it’s a program every Cisco partner should be capitalizing on.
VIP is offered to Cisco Specialized, Certified, Designated and Authorized partners in all customer market segments. Partners can earn rebates up to 15% based on sales of eligible SKUs (see all eligible SKUs) sold during the six-month window.
The latest Cisco VIP period, VIP 33, began Jan. 27, 2019, and runs through July 27, 2019. Starting this year, partners who enroll by March 8 will automatically be enrolled in future VIP periods as long as they remain in good standing with Cisco. Additionally, partners who activate key software features can qualify for special incentives, such as a $50,000 bonus for qualifying Cisco DNA Center activations.
Which Cisco products and services are eligible for VIP rebates?
The program is segmented into two tracks—Architecture and New Business. Within the Architecture track, there are five technology subcategories comprising:
  1. Enterprise networks. Within this subcategory, Digital Network Architecture (DNA) and Cisco ONE SKUs yield the highest rebates.
  2. Collaboration. This subtrack’s even more inclusive than some of the others, allowing partners to sell on-premises, cloud and hybrid solutions across the Cisco collaboration portfolio and offering customers perpetual or subscription license models.
  3. Security. Examples of solutions within this subtrack include: Cisco FirePOWER Services on ASA, Cisco FirePOWER Threat Defense and Cisco Advanced Malware Protection (AMP) Threat Grid.
  4. Data center. There are lots of choices within this subcategory, and here’s a highlight: Cisco Application-Centric Infrastructure (Cisco ACI), Cisco Nexus 9000 Series platform with Cisco ACI ready, Cisco Tetration ready, Cisco UCS SmartPlay bundles and Cisco HyperFlex.
  5. Service provider technology. This subtrack is designed to support Cisco partners looking to help customers transition into the new world of software-defined networking (SDN) and network functions virtualization (NFV). 
The New Business track comprises five technology subcategories, which are more narrowly defined than the Architecture track and have a stronger focus on recurring revenue:
  1. Enterprise networks annuity. Includes the same details as the similarly named subtrack above.
  2. Collaboration annuity. Includes the same details as the similarly named subtrack above.
  3. Security annuity. This subtrack rewards growth in monthly recurring revenue of services such as Cisco Umbrella and Cisco Cloudlock subscriptions.
  4. Data center annuity. Includes the same details as the similarly named subtrack above.
  5. Meraki. This subtrack encompasses the Meraki MS, MR and MX families of products along with various licensing agreements.
Other important VIP details you need to know
VIP 33 has specific specialization, certification, designation and/or Authorized Technology Provider (ATP) entry requirements for all tracks. Additionally, the program has payout requirements that include minimum bookings, customer satisfaction (CSAT), specializations, certifications, designations and/or ATP status.
