Cisco SD-WAN: your customers’ network performance and security needs solved

In addition to several software company acquisitions over the last few years, Cisco has been reinventing the network to be software-focused and driving security across the entire network. It’s also creating recurring revenue opportunities for itself and its partners.
 
Cisco’s research shows that channel partners who lead with software see bigger deals, with 54% of profit coming upfront and the rest from follow-on services. Software allows easier management of customer accounts and leads to renewal opportunities. Plus, software-focused partners receive more than $6 in services with every $1 in sales.
 
Securely connect users and apps anywhere
The modern workforce is increasingly mobile, and business-critical applications are running over the internet across multiple clouds. Traditional WAN architectures lack the bandwidth, security and management capabilities to keep up with today’s business demands—especially when those architectures are connected to the internet and the cloud.
 
Cisco’s SD (software defined)-WAN addresses these challenges. SD-WAN is a new approach to network connectivity that lowers operational costs and improves resource usage for multisite deployments. It allows network administrators to use bandwidth more efficiently and can help ensure the highest level of performance for critical applications without sacrificing security or data privacy.
 
With SD-WAN, Cisco partners can:
  • Simplify management. Previously, users, applications and locations were managed box-by-box and device-by-device. SD-WAN simplifies network management via a centralized, cloud-delivered architecture, making it easier to scale across thousands of endpoints, whether they’re in the branch, campus or cloud. Cisco partners also have the ability to automate zero-touch deployment globally, using a single management interface.
     
  • Improve the user experience. WAN optimization delivers optimal cloud application performance from multiple clouds to users anywhere. It works similarly to the way a navigation app like Google Maps navigates a user around a traffic accident. For instance, in the event of link failure or link degradation, SD-WAN’s application-aware routing can dynamically route network traffic between dedicated circuits and secure internet connections to drive constant delivery of business-critical applications. Additionally, your customers will realize OpEx improvements by offloading expensive MPLS services with more economical and flexible broadband (including secure VPN connections).
     
  • Increase security. SD-WAN enforces network protection at the right place by deploying embedded or cloud security with built-in threat intelligence. The SD-WAN architecture also features distributed security at the branch level, so data doesn’t have to travel back to the headquarters or data center for advanced security protection (such as a firewall, DNS enforcement or intrusion prevention).
