With 2020 being such a devastating time for so many small to midsize businesses, it’s more important now than ever before to have a team in your corner. A group of people who know what you’re going through and can share tips, tricks, advice, best practices and so much more.
If you’ve ever heard someone talk about Ingram Micro’s SMB Alliance, but weren’t sure what it was, why it was important or why you should consider joining, let’s clear that up.
In this episode of B2B Tech Talk, Keri Roberts is joined by Devaughn Bittle
and Patrick Cash
, two members of Ingram Micro’s SMB Alliance and real-life good friends. They spend time talking about:
- Wins and challenges their respective businesses have faced as a result of COVID-19
- Trends in the tech space moving into 2021 and beyond
- How they first got involved in the SMB Alliance and why it’s been such a good thing for their businesses
- Where technology is going to be moving in the coming years
- What to expect from their new podcast, “As the Gears Turn”
Challenges and wins from COVID
In speaking with Devaughn and Patrick, one theme emerged about challenges faced as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, and that was speed.
It seemed as if the speed at which the changes were taking place were unprecedented. Businesses that had operated a certain way for decades, and had no remote work policies in place, were having to pivot almost on a dime to a completely remote workforce.
From navigating equipment sales, securing webcams and handling the influx of requests at the start of the pandemic, it would have been easy for any business to get overwhelmed.
But this is where Devaughn and Patrick leaned heavily on their SMB Alliance community, vendor partners, and colleagues to help them navigate the waters and figure out how to keep addressing the needs of their customers, as well as keep their workforce productive and engaged.
Why the SMB Alliance?
If you’ve ever been to a conference or trade show for your industry, you know the amount of information can be overwhelming. There is an endless stream of sessions, workshops, booths and demonstrations, and it can be daunting figuring out how to process the firehose of information.
That’s where the SMB Alliance comes in handy. It helps break down the information so that it’s not coming at such a high volume or high speed. Whether it’s dedicated resources from Ingram Micro or vendor reps, it’s a fantastic group of people that you can pick up the phone and contact any time to get your questions answered.
As the Gears Turn
As two people who have benefited greatly from Ingram Micro’s SMB Alliance, Devaughn and Patrick are excited to be launching their own podcast as a part of Ingram Micro’s B2B Tech Talk series, called “As the Gears Turn.”
It will be a platform where they will interview vendors and other SMB community members, learning best practices, hearing success stories, maybe a few failure stories, and giving them a chance to keep engaged with the community as a whole.
